Now that you've found out you're pregnant, how do you handle your job and generally adjust to your new life?
Well it boils down to really understanding your system, especially if this is your first pregnancy. Always observe for any unpleasant changes with any new activities you embark on.
Here are a few tips on what to do after discovering that you are pregnant:
1. Start your ante-natal care and see your doctor regularly. Your HR should know this.
2. Eat enough fruits and vegetables; add them to your lunch break meals. Also include whole grain and calcium rich foods to your meals; breakfast would be fine.
3. Remain physically active; yes get up and drop that file, and don't abandon the stairs!
4. Make sure you get enough sleep (not at work of course!) at home so you don't end up nodding and nagging in the office. 7-9hrs would be great.
5. Drink lots of water, rather than fizz drinks and tea in the office go for water.
6. Your work environment should be hazard free; keep away from toxic substances and chemicals such as cleaning solvents, lead, mercury and paint.
7. Stay off alcohol and hard drugs like cocaine, marijuana...
8. Avoid taking very hot baths or using the sauna, light massages will do this period.
9. Don't take any x-rays this period. If you have to travel, inform the attendants at the airport or for any other security checks that you are pregnant.
10. Avoid scented products like body sprays, bubble baths and sanitary napkins, to reduce chances of vaginal irritation or infection.
