Nigerians across the country were welcomed with cheering news of the
discharged of an Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) patient who has been
declared free from the virus.
In a statement, Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said the
development is commendable considering the concerted efforts by
government and other critical stakeholders to tame the spread of the
virus.
Chukwu in the statement said "the first Nigerian to be diagnosed with
EVD, a female doctor was discharged home this evening., says the
minister of health."
"As you are aware, the patients under treatment have now be moved to
the new 40 bed capacity isolation ward provided by the Lagos State
Government," the minister explained.
"Additional equipment has also been made available to the new
isolation ward by the Federal Government.
At present, 5 of the patients have almost fully recovered."
